Chairman EdeNorth Local Government Area

Ede North Local Government is one of the most recent local governments in the state and the headquarters is located at Oja-timi, Ede. The council which was established in October 2, 1996 has a land mass of 40,000sq km with a population of over 80,000 going by the 1991 census figure. The people of the local government are predominantly farmers who engage in the cultivation of cash and subsistence crops. Cash crops often planted by the farmers are cocoa, kolanut, cashew and oranges. The Ede people are also into weaving of traditional cloth and trading. The garment weaved and traditional cloth and trading. The garment weaved and produced by the Ede people are known for its high quality throughout West Africa. The people of the council are friendly and highly receptive to strangers. Ede township is a single community with a single history, language and destiny. However, for the sake of administrative convenience, the community is being run by two local government, i.e Ede North and Ede South Local Governments. The people of the two councils are highly educated and exposed. Infact, a significant representation of the people could be found in Ghana, Cote D’lvoire, Togo, Burkina Faso, Untied Kingdom and the United State of America, among others. The local government lies on the geographical latitude of 4” x 50” North of the equator and t is endowed with fertile land and an evergreen forest. Some of the villages and hamlet under Ede North Local Government are Owode, Adejuwon, Arola, Elere, Olasupo,Bara Jagun, Agbinpa, Jokoo Agbodo etc.
